Traditional safeguarding approaches often focus on risks within the family/home, but young people are increasingly vulnerable to harm in wider social contexts, schools, peer groups, and online spaces. Contextual Safeguarding expands the lens of protection, helping professionals identify, assess, and respond to risks in the environments where young people spend their time. This seminar provides practical strategies for integrating Contextual Safeguarding into everyday practice.

Zoya is a highly experienced social care consultant and safeguarding specialist, with expertise in residential care, fostering, social work policy, and staff supervision. With a deep understanding of trauma, attachment, and therapeutic communication, she has held key roles across local authorities, fostering agencies, and independent safeguarding services. Zoya has worked as a Fostering and Duty Manager, Independent Reviewing Officer, and Regulation 44 Visitor, supporting providers to develop effective safeguarding systems, compliance processes, and quality assurance frameworks.
