Supported Accommodation Association (SAA) Emerges as a Unifying Force for Providers

We Are Pleased to Announce the Birth of Supported Accommodation Association (SAA)

Supported accommodation providers from across England came together in a historic meeting that exceeded all expectations. More than 130 providers, representing various regions and services, joined hands to lay the foundation for a united and influential association – Supported Accommodation Association (SAA).

A Milestone Meeting:

The meeting, held on 3rd October, marked a turning point for supported accommodation providers in England. It was an event characterized by enthusiasm, collaboration, and a shared vision for the future of the industry. Providers, big and small, converged to discuss the challenges and opportunities in their sector and to forge a collective path forward.

Unity in Diversity:

One of the most remarkable aspects of the meeting was the diversity of providers in attendance. Small, medium and big providers, and organizations from every corner of England were represented. This diversity highlights the universal commitment to delivering high-quality services to children and young people and enhancing the standards of supported accommodation.

Key Agreements Reached:

During the meeting, a series of significant agreements were reached, paving the way for the establishment of Supported Accommodation Association. Here are some key rules that will govern our association:

  • Membership Tiers: SAA will have three types of members: Effective Members, Provisional Members, and Individual Members.
  • Governance Structure: The association will be governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of officers and regional directors, elected by Effective Members.
  • Election Procedures: Elections for directors will be conducted during the Annual General Meeting (AGM). Effective Members will have one vote each, and no more than two individuals from the same organization can be on the same list of candidates.
  • Term Limits: Directors and officers will serve fixed terms, ensuring fresh perspectives and leadership.
